Spinal cord
The spinal cord is a crucial extension of the brain, carrying nerves from the brainstem down to the lower back. Injury to this area results in paralysis beyond the point of injury because the connection with the brain is severed. Spinal cord injuries, contusions, fluid accumulation, and tumors require very careful surgical treatment. We perform various surgeries for conditions such as syringomyelia, Chiary malformation, spinal tumors, and in newborns and children, meningocele, myelomeningocele, split cord malformation, tethered cord, and other conditions involving sacs or holes in the spine.
